Population 4.760 (1. Jan. 2017) The district area is about 1100 square Km. and reaches from Dalatangi (Mjoifjordur) in the north to Kambsnes (Stodvarfjordur) in the south. It is the most populated municipality in the east of Iceland and about 10th most populated community of 75 communities in Iceland. Five villages are in Fjardabyggd: Neskaupstaður, Eskifjörður, Reyðarfjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður. Each having its own history and speciality, and are all in proximity to nature offering variety of outdoor life, recreation and family friendly environment.
