Seljalandsfoss is a 62 meter high waterfall east of the town of Hvolsvollur. Seljalandsfoss is an erotion waterfall, but it falls down a cliff that was once a sea cliff, even though today its about 6 km from the ocean. During the summer and until it becomes dangerous due to conditions, it is possible to walk behind this waterfall. Be sure to bring your rain gear because walking behind the waterfall is a wet business.
Skogafoss is a waterfall further east and is one of the bigger waterfalls in the country, It is 60 meters (200 ft.) high and 15 meters (49 ft.) wide.
Solheimajokull is an outlet glacier fram Myrdalsjokull glacier and has a relatively easy access, even though it is not recommended to go on the glacier without professional guidance.*
Reynisfjara Black Beach is a vast beach of black sand which in origin is mostly volcanic ash. On the beach there is also a shallow cave in cliff made up of basalt columns. This cliff has been a very popular backdrop for projects of film and photography. It can never be told enough that the waves crashing on the beach are very dangerous. The waves create such a suction that a person who is caught by a wave may not return. The waves have claimed many lives of people who have ignored the danger.
Vik is the southern most village on the coast of Iceland and is where the tour will turn around towards Reykjavik. Off the coast of Vik are pillars in the ocean, Reynisdrangar. They were created when two trolls tried to tow a ship to shore but were caught by daylight and turned to stone and as did the ship.
* Glaciers, and especially outlet glaciers are dangerous creatures and due to their movement they are ever changing and creating dangers often not obvious to the nonexpert. For safety reasons people should not go close to or onto glaciers without professional guidance.
